Stop Automatic Driver Updates

OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers) can now push their drivers onto your computer through Windows Updates, and the new setting is on by default. Companies include NVIDIA and AMD. Here's what you need to know and whether or not you should disable this feature.

If you're looking for an option, this is a good thing for most users. Drivers can be slowly rolled out to a handful of users to find and resolve any problems, then rolled out to everyone. Unless you prefer to download your drivers manually or have a reason for using older drivers, you can go about your day. Odds are you won't notice at all.

Start typing Device Installation Settings in Windows Search and click on 'Change Device Installation Settings'. Click 'No' to disable automatic driver downloads.
